Practical Theology

Ever since I was young I have been utterly fascinated and obsessed with life’s big questions. I firmly believe that Catholicism is true and offers the best and most coherent worldview. Some of my intellectual heroes include Augustine, Gregory of Nyssa, Boethius, Anselm, Bonaventure, Aquinas, Scotus, Benedict XVI, and many others. My primary areas of interest include Christology, Trinitarian Theology, Ecclesiology, Liturgical Theology, and Soteriology. Above is Caravaggio’s famous painting “The Call of Saint Matthew”. It depicts Matthew’s pivotal choice to follow or not follow Christ. At Christ’s call, some tax collectors next to Matthew are too focused on their wealth to even notice the call. Matthew notices the call and makes a choice. Very often we are like the tax collectors and too focused on the hustle of everyday life that we fail to sit back and recognize the heights to which we are called. My prayer is that the readers of this blog might take a minute to contemplate eternal mysteries and in some way come to a greater love and knowledge of God.
